The HP J8996A 1-Outlet Surge Suppressor provides high level protection for transmitters and receivers at RF-communication sites. In the event of a local strike, the unit?s gas discharge tube ionizes instantaneously to limit sudden voltage surges across the coaxial line. When connected to a satisfactory ground, the J8996A can safely shunt up to 5000 Amperes of impulse current away from sensitive station equipment.
