LANDSCAPE ACOUSTICS ORIGIN ACOUSTICS OSR65
Stylized as stone
When natural aesthetics are required, there's nothing like a landscape-inspired speaker that's built to withstand the elements. Using incredibly durable polyurethane and resin composite material and a stone-inspired exterior, this landscape speaker will withstand the harshest conditions and deliver quality sound for years to come. Available in 6-inch and 8-inch two-way drivers and an optional 8-inch subwoofer, these stone-inspired speakers can stand alone or blend with the rest of the Origin Acoustics Seasons collection of all-weather speakers to suit your installation's needs.
Landscape acoustics in the form of stone Origin Acoustics OSR65
A step-down transformer
The Rock 70W/8 Ohm speakers have multiple taps from the transformer, controlled by a rotary switch on the bottom of the speaker. The higher the wattage selected, the more power the speaker will generate. Landscape speakers are designed to seamlessly mimic the natural rocks in your landscape.
To determine how many speakers can be driven per amplifier channel, a simple calculation is used. First, for safety reasons, it is recommended to calculate based on 80% of the amplifiers' rated power. For example, a 500-watt amplifier will safely output 400 watts of usable power (500 x 0.8 = 400). Now it is simply a matter of dividing 400 by the speaker selector setting. For example, if the speakers are set to tap the transformer at 15 watts, the amplifier will be able to drive 26 speakers per channel. At 30 watts tap, that would be 13 speakers.
As you can see, if you need to cover a large area and this requires many speakers, a 70V system offers a huge advantage. However, it should be noted that the higher the output power, the higher the fidelity and the higher the sound pressure level that can be reproduced by each speaker. Therefore, it is best to determine the total number of speakers required and set the taps as high as possible within the rated output power of the amplifier. As mentioned, the rotary switch is used to select the transformer tap setting.
Note: There is also an 8 ohm setting that bypasses the transformer completely. Be careful not to use this setting when connected to a 70 volt amplifier as it may damage the speaker.
